Big Chemical is an alternative rock band originally formed in Ann Arbor, Michigan and fronted by vocalist and guitarist Alec Bertoy.

While only crossing paths briefly during their time as students at the University of Michigan, Stas and Alec connected after both of them ended up in Chicago following graduation in the summer of 2023.

Shortly after, Alec formed a new Chicago-based iteration of Big Chemical (dubbed The Big Chemical Live Ensemble Mk. III), which Stas was a part of from the summer of 2023 until the spring of 2025 when Alec relocated to New York City.
