Stas Gunkel is a multi-instrumentalist, producer and audio engineer based in Chicago. Active in alternative, post-punk and alt-country music scenes, he is currently the drummer and backing vocalist for Something Nice About Nowhere as well as the lead guitarist for Trash Kickers. He has gigged throughout Chicago at a myriad of venues, not limited to but including: The Museum of Contemporary Art, Schubas, Cobra Lounge, Empty Bottle, Beat Kitchen, The Hideout and many more.

While primarily a drummer and guitarist, Stas was originally classically trained as a violist and violinist throughout his youth. In addition to those instruments, he also is proficient with bass, mandolin and lap steel. In the spring of 2019, Stas began his foray into audio engineering and producing for the band The Virgin Jerry. In addition to his work with numerous bands since then, Stas has composed, performed and produced the soundtrack for the micro-documentary film Dodger for director Bob Dolgan and Turnstone Strategies.
